Bullets Off To Good Start

It’s baseball season and what a start!  Bullet Baseball kicked off the season in grand fashion by placing first in four of the six age groups in action this past weekend.  With the good weather and excitement of a promising new season, fans turned out in droves and showed their support with an abundance of cheering.

In the 14u division, the Bullets had a 4-0 record, dominating bracket play with only one run allowed.  Charlie Yorks made his presence felt by pitching a no-hitter in the championship game.  Other winning pitchers on the weekend were Andrew Bryan, Jake Stuart and Ethan Hyatt.  Leading the offense attack were Andrew Bryan 5-7, Kelsey Richard 3-5, Yancy Foster 6-10 and both Charlie Yorks and Ethan Hyatt were 6-11.  The 14u team outscored their opponents 48-7 with an impressive .437 team batting average.  They were also perfect in steal-attempts with 27 stolen bases.  Great job!

The 13u team, playing in their second tournament, placed third.  They were 1-1 in pool play and drew a tough La Giants team for the first game on Sunday.

In the 12 u division, the Bullets earned a second place finish and were 2-2 on the weekend.   After losing to the Marucci Elite in pool play, the 12u team rallied behind pitcher Austin Cholley for a 7-0 win in the first bracket game Sunday.  Cholley pitched a complete game one-hitter striking out 12 in the process.  The Bullets lost to WBR Warriors in the championship game.  Leading the offensive attack for the 12u team was Braden Nevla 7-9, Charles Stracner 5-9 and Dylon Poncho 6-14.  Good job!  Keep up the good work.

In the 11u division, the Bullets went 4-0, outscoring their opponents 43-3 and winning their first tournament of the season.  It was a great team effort all around.  The defense gave an outstanding performance behind a solid outing by the pitchers and only allowing three runs for the whole weekend.  The real story was on offense where they accumulated 11 extra-base hits and a team batting average of .444.  Every game was shortened due to the mercy rule.  Leading the attack was Garret Williams 8-11, Dustin Guidry 5-7, Andrew Mire 5-8.  A wonderful start to a promising season.

The 10u Bullets look as if they picked up right where they left off last summer when they finished 3rd in the Elite World Series. They went 4-0, outscoring their opponents 36-9 and earning a first place finish.  Top hitters were PJ Hardy 5-7, Brogan McNease 4-8 and Tanner Littleton 4-10.

The 9u Bullets played in their second kid pitch tournament (first of the season) and finished with a 3-1 record and a first place finish.  Pitchers Logan Guillory, Nick Guillory and Rhett Hebert all pitched complete games.  The trio combined to strike out 14 batters and only walk 7 while allowing only 4 runs.  All three wins came by way of run-rule.  This group of players showed a lot of character by rebounding from a tough loss on Saturday and dominating their two games on Sunday by a combined score of 25-4.

Bullet Baseball and all its players committed to the grueling offseason workouts which included the Nike SPARQ training program, baseball fundamentals and numerous pitching and hitting clinics.  Each team is beginning to experience the results of their hard work and dedication. And its only the beginning!
